CROSSING THE DITCH

Quite a few New Zealand designers have been on my radar over the past few years, mainly because of the very unique aesthetic and creative spin on popular world trends that many designers come up with. 

As the weather finally gets cooler over here at home, I have been inspired by some amazing trends and colours coming through from our very talented neighbours. 

Juliette Hogan.

Hogan has become a household name at New Zealand fashion week over the past couple of years, always living up to the hype that now surrounds her shows. Her Winter 13 collection highlights Juliette's signature feminine simplicity and sophistication.

I particularly love her fresh and modern take on the 60's trend though her subtle use of nostalgic shapes and colour palette.

Lonely Hearts 

Lonely Hearts Label are one of the coolest to come out of NZ recently and not only do they produce some incredibly unique and delicate lingerie, they have managed to perfect the art of masculine dressing for ladies with their amazing women's wear line.

The "lonely girls" are definitely the ones to watch.

C O L A B

I am the biggest fan of collaborations, be they music, fashion or otherwise, many multi-talented forces coming together can never be a bad thing right? 

Well as is happens the answer is no! - Collaboration masterminds at Colab eyewear have just released the newest drop of the Elke Kramer collection and they are so fantastic. Elke is a an extremely talented and creative Sydney lady who quite successfully dabbles in illustration, jewellery design and art direction among other things. Her amazing creations can be found online at elkekramer.com and the eyewear range is available from the colab website

TOMBOY

Yesterday I helped out the lovely ladies of Shallow Store for there new online product and editorial shoot. The gorgeous model Lucy was helping bring to life some of the stores coolest new stock from Camilla and Mark, Aje, and Theory. 

(unfortunately I only had my iPhone, hence the poor quality images)

My favorite pieces were from Belgium label Filles a papa, the work of two sisters who have created a very cool line of tee's and sweaters. These "Tomboy" ones are definitely on my wish list.

THE HORSE

Australian label The Horse are made up of a very talented husband and wife team that make incredibly beautiful leather shoes. Not only are the one of the few labels that are still undertaking the fine art of boot making, they have recently moved into creating leather accessories. These unisex watches are so lovely and I'm sure are just a taste of the amazing things that to come out of "The Horse" studio.

AnOther

Mr Alex Turner, front man for a long time favourite of mine, The Arctic Monkeys, has recently showed that he is a man of many talents including, looking damn fine in some pretty rad outfits. 

This shoot is photographed and styled brilliantly and captures not only Turner's personality but also a great snapshot of some great menswear trends

CANDY

The newest film campaign for Prada "Candy" directed by Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola is very sweet.  Lea Seydoux is stunning and so are her lovely French suitors. 

R H Y E

 I have had this record on repeat for the last couple of weeks now and I still cant get enough of the relatively elusive "Rhye" who are Mike Milosh and Robin Hannibal.

 Milosh's soft, intimate vocals combine with smooth jazz rhythms and hooks to create the dreamy, sensual sound that inhabit the entire album.

Definitely an early contender for a favourite this year!

MODERN VICE

American label Modern Vice have recently released an exclusive collaboration with full time babes Natalie + Dylana Suarez and the Jetts Spring collection is really amazing. I am dying to get my hands on a pair of the yellow boots of brogues.

Lean Woman Blues

Damn this lady knows how to dress. This is my idea of a perfect winter outfit.

Blue is such a classic and versatile colour and Chung does a fine job of proving you can never wear too much of it.

Dace

Dace is a really awesome label I have recently discovered and designer Dace Moore is really quite talented. Her use of simple yet sophisticated silhouettes create a modern casual aesthetic. The label is based in Vancouver, British Columbia and below are just some of my favourite looks from the spring 13 range. Although from the most recent spring 13 look book, due to the plethora of seasons Sydney seems to be experiencing on a daily basis, I could very much see some of the looks on the Streets here at this time of year, which is a credit to the versatility of the label.
